The award was developed to recognize residents who make an outstanding contribution to resident well-being, who has shown compassion to patients, dedication to medicine, support to colleagues and who is a leader in balancing a healthy work and home life. Residents nominate a fellow resident and a committee of PARI-MP members carefully review the nominations. Dr. Cox was nominated by a fellow resident and then selected by a committee of peers from a group of nominees.
The nominator described Dr. Cox as “a role-model in resident and clinical clerk teaching. On a busy service she is able to identify key “teaching moments” even when the rest of us are rushing through the day. Her efforts mean that any level of house staff is made to feel as part of the team.”
Her nominator also said, “From a professional point-of-view, Ashley spends extra time with her patients and their families to fully address all concerns, medical, social or otherwise. Her work is always complete; if she has a heavy patient load, she will come in early and stay late. Her cheerful and unassuming personality is infectious and she can lead in a fearless, yet non-threatening way.”
PARI-MP Executive Director, Sandi Flemming, presented Dr. Cox with her award during a presentation on February 24th.
